Episode Description
Are toxic relationships more common among adults with ADHD? Some research and plenty of anecdotal evidence suggests that individuals with ADHD may be more vulnerable to emotional abuse like gaslighting and love bombing due to low self-esteem and prior relationship challenges. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser twists the truth so hard and often that their partner begins to doubt their own reality. Love bombing begins with romantic gestures and displays of affection early in a relationship, but over time — and in sneaky ways — the abuser uses guilt and manipulation to control the other person.
Learn why people with ADHD are more susceptible to unhealthy relationships — and how to identify toxic traits in prospective partners to avoid being a target of gaslighting, love bombing, or other emotional abuse. When you understand the signs and patterns, you can protect yourself, and your children, if you are in a toxic co-parenting relationship.
In this webinar you will learn:
- Why people with ADHD are more susceptible to emotional abuse in relationships
- How to identify toxic traits and red flags in your partners, family members, friends, and in the workplace
- What the phases of a toxic relationship look like
- How toxic people use gaslighting, love bombing, hoovering, and flying monkeys to keep you hooked into a relationship
- How to protect yourself and your children from emotional abuse
